🎬 Come join us for a screening of the Hong Kong documentary Fallen Treasures (木送) that was in the official selection at the 2024 Hong Kong Asian Film Festival
https://lnkd.in/gBRMdsSa

Chi Kee Sawmill & Timber, a family owned business established since 1948, also known as the last sawmill in Hong Kong, had moved to Kwu Tung in the 80’s in witness of the urban development of Hong Kong throughout the past decades.  Its factory was demolished in 2022 due to land resumption by the Government to make way for development of the Northern Metropolis. Well known to local carpenters and artists who worked with timber and recycled wood,  the film recorded the last days of this local industry and the connections with the community. It also evokes thoughts about planning & development, land use, recycling industry, sustainable development, local industry, incubation of craftsmanship and arts. 🔨
