🌟 Highlights of the Visit:
- As we face growing population pressure and food shortages, food waste remains a significant challenge, accounting for 29% of municipal solid waste in Hong Kong and occurring throughout all stage of the food system.
- To promote the sustainability and urban agriculture, Hong Kong‑based Farmacy Group has pioneered a decentralised Farming‑as‑a‑Service (FaaS) model.
- Using vertical hydroponic farming, Farmacy brings agriculture production into indoor urban spaces. The innovative FaaS approach reduces herb waste in supermarkets by 50%, while cutting water usage by 90% and carbon footprints by 70%.
